Timeless style, comfort, and ethics woven together since 2014.

Our story

At WEHVE, our journey is deeply rooted in a profound love for Uruguay, and its vast plains, exceptional Merino wool, and rich weaving tradition.

It all began in the village of José Ignacio, where our founder Gesine Holschuh launched WEHVE in 2014, inspired by a desire to celebrate craftmanship and sustainability while blending them with her family’s happy place.

Our mission is two-fold: to preserve the time-honored techniques of ancestral weaving and to create beautiful, timeless pieces that reflect a commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. Every hand-loomed cardigan, kaftan, and blanket, we produce is crafted from pasture-roaming sheep's Merino wool, hand dyed in vibrant colors and thoughtfully combined with silk, cotton, and cachemire.

We understand the importance of sustainability in every step of our process. Our work embraces ancient traditions and utilizes only natural materials, ensuring our creations are not only beautiful but also kind to the planet.

After a decade of hard work and creativity, we are proud to partner with a network of exquisite boutiques and hotels around the world. Our pieces resonate with discerning customers who appreciate timeless, luxurious and cozy companions for their lives.

With a technical eye for detail, Gesine, who holds an MBA from INSEAD, brings over ten years of experience at the intersection of social impact and business, emphasizing women's empowerment.

Join us on this beautiful journey as we weave together history, craftsmanship, and sustainability.

Sustainability

Here, we highlight how we perform against the sustainability priorities for the fashion industry. This is work in progress, and we're constantly seeking to learn, improve, and adapt our approach.

Process

Founder of WEHVE, Gesine Holschuh, went on a series of trips to Uruguay where she met with weaving collectives and Merino sheep farmers and herders. Merino wool forms the foundation of her woven designs.
